MIPIM highlights

The Central Salford team returned from another successful year at the international property show MIPIM, held each March in Cannes, France.
 
Attending as part of the Manchester Partnership, the team had a busy week with over 30 meetings scheduled alongside a diary-full of business briefings, networking events and presentations. This included a session on the MediaCityUK development by Central Salford URC chief executive Chris Farrow. read more

Shopping City: sold

Praxis Holdings has bought Salford Shopping City for £40 million. The sale of the property could spark a fresh wave of regeneration in Salford city centre.
 
Salford Shopping City was placed on the market in 2009 by Prime Commercial Properties, and was snapped up by Isle of Man company Praxis in March this year. read more

The "Happy Pontist" blogger has featured Trinity Footbridge on the River Irwell. Some might say Salford's finest river crossing (to date) should rate higher than number eight on this list; nevertheless, the review is very favourable. read more

Atlantic Gateway agreement to deliver 400,000 homes

Local authorities in the North West have signed up to the Atlantic Gateway regeneration framework, described as "a vision for a sustainable economic zone" linking Liverpool and Greater Manchester along the Manchester Ship Canal corridor.
 
Leaders of local authorities in Merseyside, Cheshire and Greater Manchester met at Daresbury Science and Innovation Centre to sign an agreement to co-operate on the plans. read more

Council approves stadium JV

Salford City Council's cabinet has approved plans for a joint venture company with Peel Holdings to deliver a new 15,000-seat community stadium for Salford City Reds Rugby league team.
 
The £26 million project in Barton involves Peel and Salford City Council pooling their land-holdings on the 70-acre site. read more
