Salford partnership puts unemployed to work

Eleven unemployed people from Salford have celebrated their graduation from a ground-breaking new scheme aimed at getting them back into work. (Sourced from here.)
The pioneering training programme is being run by social enterprise scheme, B4Box in partnership with Salford City College, Salford City Council and Salix Homes.
It aims to help unemployed people in Salford gain the skills and qualifications they require to get a job in construction.

Manchester Salford Pathfinder receives £42 million funding boost

Funding confirmed by the Department for Communities and Local Government (CLG) today will enable the long-term regeneration of inner city residential areas in Manchester and Salford to continue. (Sourced from here.)
The Manchester Salford Pathfinder (MSP) is to receive £42 million Housing Market Renewal (HMR) funding for 2010/11 from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) – 100% of the figure originally earmarked by Government, subject to a review of performance. read more
Heritage in pole position at Salford Quays

A 36ft totem pole was commissioned by the head of the Manchester Liners office on Salford Quays in 1961 to represent the trading links between Salford and Canada. (Sourced from Salford Online.)

New arrival on the horizon at MediaCityUK

Peel Media, Salford City Council, Central Salford Urban Regeneration Company and the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) have taken the first step towards creating a specialist innovation and business support facility at the heart of MediaCityUK.
Salford City Council has signed a lease with Peel Media which will enable the creation of the Media Enterprise Centre (MEC), in the south tower of the MediaCityUK studio block.
Spread across six floors and covering 53,500 sq ft, the MEC will aim to stimulate both existing and emerging media talent. Individuals and businesses will be able to utilise a range of resources at the MEC, including: flexible office space; specialist training facilities; advice from agencies such as Business Link and Northwest Vision and Media; and access to the NorthernNet digital media network. read more
Manchester businesses see Salford on the rise

Most businesses in Manchester believe Saford Quays will become more important as a regional business centre, according to a recent survey.
Conducted by Drivers Jonas, the survey of 100 Manchester city centre office occupiers found that Manchester Airport and its surrounding area was the most important business centre in the region, outside of the city centre, followed closely by Liverpool and then Salford Quays.
But Salford will become more important as a business location while the importance of most of the region's other towns will remain the same.
