Town hall bosses approved plans for a massive complex at the former Colgate factory in Ordsall, which will include offices, shops, a gym and restaurants.
The proposals should lead to a massive jobs boost and help get more Salfordians into employment.
Recent figures indicate that more than 7,300 are currently claiming JobSeekers Allowance across the city.
Council leader Councillor John Merry said: "I fully support this application and think it is really important that we take bold and brave steps in the regeneration of the city.
"It is a good project and will bring a lot to Ordsall."
