RSSLord Mandelson visits Salford

Peter Mandelson, secretary of state for business, innovation and skills, is to talk about government investment plans in Manchester today.

Mandelson will be opening a new welding school at Wilkinson Star in Salford, and is also visiting Peel Group's MediaCity.
The business secretary will also give a speech at the University of Manchester about the role of the regions and regional development agencies in the recovery of the UK economy.
It is understood he will focus on the challenge of “renewing Britain's infrastructure for the twenty first century”, arguing that it has huge potential for creating new jobs and technological strengths in Britain.
