Salford University is to hold the annual Nations and Regions Conference on 18-19 January.
For the first time the event will have a media-wide focus, as it traditionally concentrates on television.
The two-day conference, which will be held within sight of the MediaCity:UK site at the Lowry, further solidifies Salford's prominent role at the heart of 21st century media and communications in Britain.
The evening event held on 18 January will be opened by Salford University vice-chancellor Martin Hall, and will include an 'in conversation' piece with the BBC's director north Peter Salmon.
Day two promises to be a vibrant conference offering a mix of in-depth production know-how and relevant policy discussion right across the media spectrum, and will see a keynote speech from director of future media and technology at the BBC Erik Huggers exploring the future of TV platforms across the UK.
